Sports DO GPS

Posted in the category of General, Skiing by Dick on the November 27th, 2006

I am contemplating signing up for the SportsDo portal. The question is - Does anyone use this already? Have you used SportsDo? Have you any SportsDo top tips. I would be interested in finding out.

For those that don’t know what SportsDo is, here is a little ditty I have copied from their web site.

SportsDo is a GPS sports tracking system for your mobile phone which enables you to record your sporting activities while broadcasting live tracking stats to friends and family via the SportsDo web portal.
Detailed analysis of your activities can be performed on our SportsDo web portal allowing you to relive the experience and continually improve your performance.

I guess the simple way of doing it would be to buy and install the Tom Tom software onto you phone. You will need to carry a little GPS receiver with you but that shouldn’t be a problem.

Other than that, the only possible way is to use one of the 3G phones that has it built in……but I don’t know a lot about that.

If you do want to buy a Tom Tom, don’t forget to buy it through my online shop

    Hi Richard

I think SportsDo is awesome however I’m a tad biased being one of the founders!

If you are interested in sports tracking you should definately invest because your pennies will go towards making it even cooler and we’ve got lots of ideas up our sleeves!

Don’t just take our word for it; BBC Ski Sunday are using SportsDo for their camera runs down the racing course and we’re working with the MSRC charity to have 120+ live tracked runners in the London Marathon in April.

In response to Frederick’s comments; in the US cellphones with GPS are relatively common place however the GPS functionality is controlled by the network operators and is generally a subscription factility. In Europe GPS enabled phones are less available and most people use an external Bluetooth GPS.

Hope to see you all on SportsDo.net soon. :-)

Thanks Jonathan. Sportsdo.net It is an impressive package, however the only thing that has stopped me buying it and subscribing is the lack of European Ski resort piste maps that you have available.

    I shall watch and wait.

P.S I have changed your “Sportsdo” to “links” to your site - I hope it helps.
