I am contemplating signing up for the SportsDo portal. The question is - Does anyone use this already? Have you used SportsDo? Have you any SportsDo top tips. I would be interested in finding out.

For those that don’t know what SportsDo is, here is a little ditty I have copied from their web site.

Skiing In Bulgaria, Borovets

Posted in the category of Skiing by Dick on the November 27th, 2006

At last my skiing holiday to Borovets, Bulgaria has been booked. Again this year I have opted for the scheduled BA flights and arranged accomodation in Borovets directly with chums who own apartments. I think this is a much cheaper way of doing things - and you have much more sociable flight times. This year I am having twelve days out there. All we need now is for the snow to start falling.

If you are looking for the Borovets Webcam or the Borovets Piste Map - look no further, just click the links and go to my skiing page. This page is a gateway to a whole host of skiing resources - mainly dedicated to Borovets in Bulgaria

Skiing

Posted in the category of Skiing, Telegraph Fantasy Football by Dick on the January 2nd, 2006

As some of you may have noticed, I am quite keen to go skiing. I have time available all through Feb 06

I have noticed on various ski forums that many people are seeking groups or partners to join for skiing breaks. If there are any like minded indepentant (single) skiers out there who may be interested in arranging a trip, please email me ( ski@richardsweeting.org )

I am 34yr old single male and would place myself at the low level of intermediate skiing.

My plan is for a trip to Borovets (Bulgaria) and another trip to Tignes.

Skiing in Bracknell

Posted in the category of Skiing by Dick on the November 10th, 2005

Went with a friend to the dry slope in Bracknell today. It was an interesting experience (and thats enough about Bracknell.) It is the biggest dry slope I have been on yet - which makes it a bit more enjoyable, a chance to get into a rythm. It is also a funny nylon type material, rather than the matting that I have been used to. I’m sure I will be able to find out the proper term for that. However it is very slippy which makes it a totally different experience…..I did watch someone fall over a couple of times, but I’m not going to mention any names. hehehe

I will update this post with suitable links shortly.

Skiing lesson

Posted in the category of Skiing by Dick on the November 8th, 2005

I had a lesson down at Alpine Snow Sports in Aldershot today. Nice chap called Clive was my instructor. I have to say he was very good and progressed my skiing along nicely. It was also very resaonably priced for a private lesson, and would recommend it for a bit of a pre-season technique tweek.

Anyway a slight improvement, so well worth it.

Better Feet

Posted in the category of Skiing by Dick on the October 30th, 2005

I went down to the Alpine dry slop in Aldershot (see previous posts for deatils) to test my new insoles. They so much more comfortable than the previous ones. Definitely well worth standing in the shop with my trousers rolled up, looking like a buffoon, for twenty minutes.

I was correct in my assumption that I couldn’t ski any better, but I am improving - not a lot.

Anyway good work Charlotte - well fitted - How could I possibly thank you?

New feet - Snow and Rock Shop

Posted in the category of Skiing by Dick on the October 29th, 2005

I went to Snow and Rock in Chertsey today, to have my boots looked at. An exeedingly attractive (I mean’t to say helpful) lady called Charlotte made me some custom insoles. I have to say, appart from be most attractive, she really seemed to know her stuff and has made me some very confortable insoles. I doubt they will make me ski any better, but maybe I will be able to ski badly for a bit longer now, before my feet fall off.

So in short, if you are looking for some expert help, I would strongly recommend Snow and Rock in Chertsey. The service is excellent and they do a good cup of hot chocolate also.

Charlotte, if you happen to see this page - I thank you. I will hopefully try them out soon. And yes - I will clean my boots!!
